Opalich serves as the Founder and CEO of HospiceChoice Rx, a pharmacy benefit manager specializing in Hospice. HospiceChoice Rx began operations and sales in 2023. Currently, he and HospiceChoice Rx are focused on contracting with several major hospice providers.

Career History

OPSIA, OPSIC, and Continental Health Care 

Nick Opalich established Outpatient Physician Services of Cleveland, Inc. (OPSIC) and Outpatient Physician Services of America, Inc. (OPSIA), a physician development company, in 1988. He served as the COO at OPSIC and as the Chief Executive, President, and COO of OPSIA. During his leadership tenure, he was integral to the development and growth of both firms. He also helped both firms navigate rapidly changing events and significant shifts in the regulatory environment. 

Under Nick’s leadership, OPSIA acquired OPSIC and was renamed Continental Healthcare, Inc (CHC), which transformed into one of the most recognized names in organ and bone marrow transplant. The firm subsequently became one of the largest privately held distributors and pharmacies for Roche Biologics, Fujisawa Drug Company, and Novartis Drug Company.

Strategica Health Partners 

Opalich founded Strategica Health Partners in 2002 in Cleveland, Ohio. Strategica Health Partners is a private consultancy firm specializing in healthcare services and pharmaceutical solutions. As leader of the established consultancy firm, he oversaw contracting, drug procurement, pharmacy relations, and other operations central to growing clients’ top and bottom lines.

The organization also served as an independent distributor and medical model developer. During his tenure at Strategica, he contracted directly for several well-known, large-scale clients and public healthcare companies. He also served as a managing partner at the healthcare services and pharmaceutical industry organization.

As company CEO, he provided the expert leadership required for the consultancy firm to guide its clients and their respective organizations into new development, growth, and productivity stages.

Opalich managed critical engagements during his Strategica tenure, including Chronimed, Inc. (Minnetonka, MN), BioScrip, Inc. (New York, NY), National Marrow Donor Network (Minneapolis, MN), Giant Eagle Grocery Chain (Pittsburgh, PA), Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy (Flint, MI), Medical Security Card Company dba ScriptSave (Tucson, AZ), and D2 Consulting (St. Louis, MO).

Nicholas completed his tenure as CEO at Strategica Health Partners tenure in 2013. He remains a managing partner at the firm. 

InfinityRx

Between January 2021 and April 2022, Nicholas Opalich served as CEO of InfinityRx. InfinityRx, headquartered in New Hyde Park, New York, is a pharmaceutical manufacturer program administrator.

InfinityRx assists branded and generic specialty drug manufacturers from pre-launch to contract manufacturing, consumer engagement, data analysis, and ongoing research.

Home Infusion Systems

Opalich began his career as a pioneer in the specialty infusion services space. He founded the pioneering company Home Infusion Systems in 1982. He would serve as the president and CEO of Home Infusion Systems until 1987, departing to establish Continental Health Care the following year, in 1988.

Capital Rx, Inc.

During his career, he enjoyed the opportunity to represent Capital Rx, Inc., based in New York City. Nick served as a consultant to Capital Rx on a significant project involving one of the larger healthcare systems in the USA. The project was a joint effort between the Health System and Capital Rx to expand into the specialty pharmaceutical and mail-order pharmacy space.

Academic Background

In 1974, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business at David N. Myers University. During his Myers student tenure, he was closely involved with the American Society of Marketing and Management. That same year, he earned bachelor’s degrees in pharmacy and business management at Meyers College. 

Prior to his undergraduate career, he attended Mayfield High School, where he earned his diploma in 1970.

Professional Appointments

Nick, CEO of HospiceChoice Rx.,  and founder and former CEO of Strategica Health Partners, is a member of the Advisory Board of Specialty Pharmacy News and an advisory board member of Atlantic Information Services, also known as AIS Health. AIS Health is a healthcare sector publishing and information company. The company has now served the industry for over 30 years.

He also oversees the pharmacy benefit management and specialty pharmacy mergers and acquisitions practice areas of a leading healthcare investment banking firm. Elsewhere, his other appointments include positions on the national advisory boards of a number of public healthcare companies.

Philanthropic Endeavors

Opalich is a lifelong philanthropist. Throughout his life, he has donated to and volunteered on behalf of a range of charities, nonprofit organizations, and other good causes. Among the many charities, nonprofits, and good causes backed by the renowned C-suite executive are animal welfare, poverty alleviation, public health, and homeless shelter services.

One such service Opalich supports is the Lakeside Men’s Shelter in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Part of the Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry, it is the largest such shelter in Ohio, regularly serving over 350 men per night. He has also provided Male mentorship for Cleveland, Ohio’s Men City Mission.

The Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry’s Lakeside Men’s Shelter provides shelter, personal services, and homeless solutions supported by volunteers such as Opalich and an ever-growing roster of community partners committed to working together to address homelessness across the Buckeye State.

Personal Life

Outside of Nick Opalich’s professional commitments, he enjoys a wide range of hobbies and other interests. A keen sportsman, he is a lifelong football and collegiate wrestling fan. Nick has completed several Rim-to-Rim hikes in the Grand Canyon and several long-range backpack hikes into several unmaintained trails, some of which included a 16-mile one-way hike to the destination. One of his most memorable hikes was when he led five of his friends to hike down the South Kaibab trail over to the Clear Creek Trailhead and landed at Clear Creek. Strapped with 90-pound packs loaded with 23 liters of wine packed in clear Platypus, it made for a beautiful trip. He revels in spending precious time with his family and close friends when he is not working, engaging in charitable endeavors, or enjoying his various hobbies.
